I fail to see how this is a bad thing. Anything that consolidates our government bloat is a positive thing.

My complaint is that he waited until ELECTION SEASON to do it. The obvious pandering to voters is sickening.

This is a major task to take on at the Federal level and there will be much fighting on all sides because who really wants to lose their job ?
I think it's just Texas. I seem to remember a president from there not being able to find the guy responsible for 911 even though he ran his campaign on it. Then there was this new guy who found him within his first term. It might just be a Texas problem.
Let's wait and see. I have a feeling the only impossible task for this proposal will be getting a republican on board, which is really funny to watch.

I can't believe you can actually say this during the republican kiss butt run that is going on as we type. I think they think it's giving the majority what they want. But, I could be wrong. I hope he continues to give me what I want and am glad to finally see some pandering in my direction.

Obama Seeks 'consolidation Authority' To Merge Agencies | Fox News

President Barack Obama will ask Congress on Friday for greater power to shrink the federal government, and his first idea is merging six sprawling trade and commerce agencies whose overlapping programs can be baffling to businesses, a senior administration official told The Associated Press

Obama will call on Congress to give him a type of reorganizational power last held by a president when Ronald Reagan was in office. The Obama version would be a so-called consolidation authority allowing him to propose mergers that promise to save money and help consumers. The deal would entitle him to an up-or-down vote from Congress in 90 days.
Very politically smart move, I am loathe to say. He's doing it by attrition, too, so nobody loses a job...meaning the Democrats won't lose their fan base, er, I mean voter base. I already know he's been offering buyouts.

Glad to see he can work around the tea party congress by taking the "bite" out and wearing down the enamel of the party.
It is a smart move, that is why he was elected, because he is smart. What else can one do with the kindergarten environment he is in but use the fact that he is more intelligent. This was a good move, and I'm glad to see it.

Well, he announced this in his State of the Union speech last year, and like I mentioned he has already cut 600 000 government jobs over two years , so it is not just election year thing.
