Yea if they had any they would rate all the debt a Junk that will be defaulted on soon

The US was downgraded by the S&P back in August.

They also gave Enron top ratings just before they went under, and they gave wall street firms top ratings just before they went under or had to be bailed out by the government.

Those companies deliberately engaged in 'creative' accounting practices to mask their true financial status. Some would call it fraud. They managed to fool the S&P for a while.
