The American HD Index is expressed as a number from 0 to 10, and measures the same three basic dimensions (i.e., longevity, access to knowledge, and standard of living) as the standard HD Index as used by the United Nations Development Programme, but uses alternate indicators to better reflect the U.S. context and to maximize use of available data.

Man look at how horrible those pretentious liberal states are, surely the red states are much better off because of all of their low paying manufacturing jobs, lack of education funding, corporate tax breaks and religious morals.

Are you naturally this childish or do you have to try at it?
So far I haven't seen any posts you've made that haven't included some insult towards people who are politically to the right of you.

I'm sure that your criteria are the only ones that effect these results.

I find it humorous.... How long did you have to look for this demographic? I have been to the northeast and seen how the people there live.. Somehow a ratty little apartment is not too appealing to me. Is your income higher? Absolutely... Is your cost of living higher? It is much higher. Is your standard of living better than in the southern states? No it isn't but then I guess it depends what you find important in life. Maybe a little soul searching is in order. I've been to your state, wherever it is. Have you been to mine?

Not surprising. Conservatives tend to live off of government handouts. Most of those "red states" like Oklahoma would shrivel off and die if it weren't for the federal government spending on defense (which, in the cases of states like Oklahoma or Alabama, is their only "real" industry).

No wonder conservatives hate Obama. He is shrinking the federal government, and there goes the taxpayer-funded handouts that conservatives live off of.

It is not the conservatives that live off of those handouts, but mostly the minorities. You wouldn't want to say anything bad about them would you?

Those federal government handouts are largely funding defense and state infrastructure, not individuals.

The last time I checked oil and gas were industry and both Oklahoma and Alabama have an oil and gas industry.

They aren't. But then again, I wouldn't expect you to know a whole hell of a lot about the real conditions in the south either.
