President Obama to visit Walt Disney World Thursday

"The Orlando Sentinel has confirmed with a White House aide that President Obama will be visiting the Walt Disney World resort on Thursday to make an announcement about travel and tourism.
This explains the sudden change in park hours and the additional fireworks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
For any park guests this will also mean road closures, extra security, and delays delays delays. Roads will be shut down for the motorcade and resort buses will go into delayed service to try and avoid the times when the President is traveling through the resort. Also travel between the resort and the Orlando International airport should see delays as well."

Oh good! We get to pay for his family and him to fly there, as well as for them to enjoy the parks too, I'm sure.

Any reason he couldn't make an announcement about travel and tourism from the Oval Office?

This is how a President makes the taxpayer pay for campaign trips.....do so under the guise of "governing."

There is no coincidence associated with Barack Obama showing up in battleground states to do something he deems "Presidential" in the months leading up to the election.

He thinks you're stupid, basically.

Your knee-jerk reaction is missing the point.
He's going there to make a statement. Why can't he do that from DC?

Also, we have massive issues right now that need working on
NOT
for the POTUS to go flying off to a theme park.

Let's see if you can defend his trip without deflecting attention from this issue
to bring up any other president who has been in office.

You are right, no president other than Obama has traveled to make a speech or statement.

Au contraire, the only knee-jerk reaction here is the outrage that the president is going to Disney. Though, I speculate jealousy here.

Because he doesn't want to.

He has a family. I'm sure his daughters would love to go to Disney. I don't agree with the notion or concept that the President must completely disregard his family for the sake of his job.

Thing is, if it is a normal occurrence for a president to travel to make an announcement, then why is it all-of-a-sudden something to blow a gasket over? That's not deflecting. That's going through the history of former presidents to understand why the current president does x, y, or z.

Quite frankly, I don't have a problem with the President going to Disney. Everyone goes.

LOL! Disney has seen me quite a bit recently, but nice (although lame) try.

Because he doesn't want to.

Oh right, I'd forgotten he is The King, just like the one before him. Silly me! However, in this country, the people's will is ranked higher than the president's.

Where are those people crowing about "the 1%" now?

Our economy is a mess.
Lazy whiners are photographed everywhere holding signs about their "terrible predicaments."
We are engaged in military conflict.

But the president goes to Disney World!
