Sweet, eh? Nobody minds putting in a little overtime to pay taxes to support stuff like this, right?
"A $1.6 million grant from the federal government is being used to fund the restoration of 18 murals in San Diego’s Chicano Park. So, among the faded paintings of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, and right next to the bronze statue of Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata, federal dollars are being used to restore murals dedicated to things such as “the undocumented worker” and the “cosmic woman.”
Don't they know that Che was a chain smoker? What kind of example for the children is this? Ah well, perhaps another $1.6 million anti-smoking grant will clarify that there was no intent to glorify smoking.
This is utterly disgusting, especially given the fact that the city of San Diego has spent more than $100 million during the past few years on their city employees for special benefits like car and uniform allowances. Supervisor's salaries approach $150,000.
It is simply disgusting that these leeches can spend extravagant amounts on cars, uniforms, and exorbitant salaries, but they can't afford to touch up their own murals. Instead, they resort to stealing from the taxpayer to pay for their dumbass murals. They are nothing short of disgusting leeches. I hope that city falls off the map due to an earthquake.
