It's kind of a truism for people to declare 'I vote for the person, not the party.' You can almost see the self-awarded halo appearing over their heads as they say it.
I don't. I almost always vote for the party, not the person. In a few cases I have voted for Democrats, such as WA state auditor Brian Sonntag, who everybody here knows is a fiscal conservative and Democrat in name only. But I voted for my US rep Dave Reichert (R) even though I generally don't trust him. Why? I'm voting for the party, not the man. That's why I also will vote for Romney in Nov 2012 if he ends up as the nominee. In spite of his support for 'assault weapon bans' and green jobs.
As bad as the R's can be, the D's are worse. With W Bush we had $400 billion deficits. With Obama, $trillion+ deficits. While I'd like to see a Ron Paul in there eliminating whole federal departments, it's not likely to happen. Until it does, I'll take a Romney over an Obama every time.
I think your forgetting one important thing.
You don't have to vote for either. If you think both parties are screwed up, just one worse then another, then vote independent and third party.
At least you are trying to make a difference, instead of continuing to move the problem along to another year.
I vote on the candidate that best represents my opinions. I don't like being taken for granted by any party. They have to earn my vote each and every election.

Your math simply does not add up. 2000 deficit $3.5T 2008 deficit - $10.5T you are a tad shy with 400B... I wish that was true. btw...
Tarp was W as he left office so that is another $1T, the war is another $1T, Medicare Part D is 1/2T, Bush tax cuts cost $1T in revenue so when you look at what W contributed to or caused you can squarely plant $14T on his shoulders.
Blind support with no reason or thought process will never end well. Fabricating numbers will never change the reality.
I so agree with you. However in these times here and now, it is hard for me very hard, to put my trust in any of these candidates on either side.
I have voted for both party's in my lifetime, and right now, they both disapoint men.

I give you Bush, Boehner, Reid, Pelosi, Obama, etc.
No, both parties are screwed up. The only solution is to vote for third parties and independent candidates. Maybe, just maybe, if enough people do that, the parties that be will understand.
Your solution is "Well, I'll cut my leg off and slowly bleed to death, rather then a quick death"
My solution, is neither.
Both Republicans and Democrats are killing us, end of story. The means don't justify the end.

Negative, there are more candidates than from either two of the major parties. I don't choose on "electbility." I choose based on the candidate that best represents my opinions on the issue.
A vote for a third party candidate is a vote for Obama, it would be nice if that were different but it isn't. Obama is hoping you will vote third party.

And that makes you a sheeple. You are perpetuating the 2 party system without even educating yourself.

Most Paul supporters have a bent towards the center. The thought of voting along a party line is distasteful and moronic.
