We had quite a few people here on CD attacking Kelly Clarkson when she endorsed Ron Paul, most of them claimed that she couldn't sing which is a pretty stupid thing to say.
No one was saying that she couldn't sing. We said that her music is lame. And it is.
I've heard people say that they are offended or bothered by an actors views or political activism. Does this matter or affect your decisions when consuming their work? I personally don't care what they are into, as long as the music, films, or books are quality, I'm good to go.
yes and no. if their art is not making a political statement then no, but if it was made to make one, then yes.

No other artist makes one bigger than Uncle Ted for the people who wear the flag and are damn proud of it. The same for hunters, fishermen, firearm enthusists and outdoorsmen. He's NOT afraid to say what's on his mind at all times. That makes many people out to get him and "us" very uncomfortable most of the time! I love it!!! LOL He also never used drugs and is/was a reserve Police Officer.
I use to love Woody Allen movies. But when it came out that he had taken nasty nude photos of his then wife, Mia's adopted daughter, whom he later married, I just couldn't stomach watching his movies any more. Nothing he does seems funny to me any more. Maybe that's not a "political" view that turned me off to him, but just a lack of morals.
I do find that actors whom I use to enjoy, I don't so much any more and I think it has to do with their frequent self-aggrandizing spews of their political ideology that in reality, shouldn't have any more weight than your next door neighbor's, only he doesn't get the air time. Susan Sarandan, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Angelie Jolie are a few that come to mind.

Is she lame to the millions of people who voted her American Idol and the millions of people who buy her albums and attend her concerts? Or is she just a lame a$$ white hoe to you?
the majority of my work is designing concert posters and i've done work for acts from all over the political spectrum. literally from ted nugent to abbie hoffman. it's pretty rare that a band's political slant will affect my like/dislike for their music ( skinhead bands being a big exception ).
