Hello,

I am wondering. If the USA has a law that says no religion could be favored according to first amendment, then how come Good Friday is a holiday in 12 states, Easter is a flag day and Christmas a federal holiday? No other religion have any holidays recognised.

Just wondering. Thanks!!

I don't know what you mean about Easter being a "flag day". We can fly the flag any damn day we want here. Easter is not a federal holiday. Christmas is a fed. holiday; many non-Christians celebrate the secular parts of the holiday as well. I don't live in a state where Good Friday is a holiday. Many states have separate holidays in addition to the fed. holidays. For ex. here in Colorado, August 1 is "Colorado Day", the day Colorado became a state. In Illinois, favorite son Abraham Lincoln's birthday, Feb. 12 is a state holiday. Massachusetts has a holiday in April called "Patriot's Day". I would guess the rationale for GF is the same as for Christmas; it's part of Easter weekend which is celebrated by non-Christians as well.
