I think I've heard this before.

Like it or not, this is the issue that dominates our politics and is likely to get much uglier before it gets better.
What rights are denied gay people? Are they not allowed to buy property, are they denied freedom of speech, or maybe they are denied their due process rights?

You have expressed yourself in typical liberal fashion, claiming that those who do not agree with your position are deluded.

Protection from employment discrimination, housing discrimination, and some 1500 federal and state benefits associated with a marriage license.

Why do we keep having to explain this? Do you not understand how the law works?

The problem is that our country lets in too many immigrants! European culture has not always been so accepting; it has taken many years to get to that point. But, just look at their countries. They lead the way when it comes to fairness for all of their citizens. If you do some research on google, you would learn about the anti-gay attitudes about these primitive immigrants that are allowed into this country. You could start with the Somalis and the Iraqis, both of whom the bleeding hearts let into this country because of their countries' turmoil.

And you've expressed yourself in typical bible humper fashion, where you posit religious dogmatic citation of passages in your bible, and feel that it actually adds anything of substance to the debate. As if anyone really cares but yourself and others who believe what your version of your sect of your branch of your chosen religion has to say on the subject.

Just as I don't look to what Koran thumpers have to say about what Allah or Mohammed has to say about the position of women in society, I can give two flips what you or your "book of justification for the subjugation and persecution of others" has to say on the subject of gay rights. Comprende?

BTW, you're not deluded, though close:

A delusion is a false belief held with absolute conviction despite superior evidence. Unlike hallucinations, delusions are always pathological (the result of an illness or illness process). As a pathology, it is distinct from a belief based on false or incomplete information, dogma, poor memory, illusion, or other effects of perception.

Delusion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Your position is dogmatic and based on illusion. So deluded is not the right word.

I am fairly liberal, and recognize that this is the liberal paradox that is not easily reconcilable. I think the Netherlands has turned the corner on the issue, finally.

The easy answer is to not encourage immigration from non-liberal cultures, or those not compatible with free society. But, how is that workable in practical terms?

I am not positive, but believe generational trends towards more tolerance and social liberals seem to cut across most demographics in the United States. In Europe, that trend can take hold as long as the younger ones aren't "honor killed" by their more traditional parents in the meantime.

All of these examples utterly fail.

No, they don't.

In many states gay people cannot adopt children. They cannot enter into contracts for marriage with someone of the same sex, which limits access to aforementioned rights and benefits that straight couples can enter into.

As Fiyero has pointed out, please do not open this topic up AGAIN, for the thousandth time. Many times those with no law training attempt to make some really lame argument about how "the law against marrying the same sex applies equally to straight and gay people," or, "straight people can also be denied housing based on sexuality"..... all the while ignoring how those arguments have failed time and again, and ignoring that the lawyers "on your side" NEVER EVER bring those arguments up, because they aren't legally valid.

But I suppose many of the armchair C-D constitutional lawyers who got their law degrees at the University of Wikipedia and Glenn Beck think they know better anyway, so it's par for the course.
