i will take issue with this statement. even though i voted against giffords in every election, she was still my representative, and she was no where near third rate. she is a fine lady, and was, overall, a very good representative in congress.
i hope for the best for her.
Third rate in the sense UNTIL the shooting, she was unknown....
She might have been perfectly nice, she seems to have been from what I read but she wasn't a shining star or anything.
I hope the best for her too,I pray she has a complete recovery from some nutjob shooting her for no reason and,if she is better,to run again for office.
Members of congress are up for re-election every two years. If her district thought she wasn't doing her job, they could elect someone else, had she chosen to remain in office.
Very true.
But up UNTIL that time,it didn't matter what the people wanted,it was totally up to her to resign.
No idea,do you know?
You brought up people there presumably supported raising the debt ceiling.
The point is that she's only obligated to vote in the interest of her district because we elected her. She shouldn't give a damn what folks in North Carolina think. (and she didn't by the way)
So what 47% of Americans support or oppose isn't my business in regards to Giffords.

She was third rate an hour ago, now you "pray" () for her complete recovery.
She should have resigned many months ago. Recovering from such an injury is time consuming. She should have resigned when she was able, get through therapy to recover as best as possible, and if she still wished to serve public office, run for office again.
Agreed, she should have. How about the timing? Is she going to be Obama's poster-girl for gun control at his State of the Union address next week?
Now how do we convinced the remaining brain damaged (sans excuse unlike Rep. Giffords) Congressmen/women to resign?
