SMH...seems like a publicity stunt. He sets off the alarm then refuses a pat down after "calling out" the TSA director. Coincidence - I think not.
He is in the ideal position to challenge this unconstitutional breach of our rights, and I applaud him for doing so. If he provoked the incident intentionaly, then my hat's off to him.
It's what happens when you think you are above the law.
The TSA violated the Constitution. Not Rand Paul
"The Senators and Representatives shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place."
I applaud Rand Paul for standing up to the TSA. Why do we need to be irradiated and virtually strip searched just to get on a plane? Totally ridiculous.
For those who say he could have driven if he didn't like the rules, what about the TSA now setting up shop at train and bus stations, and also using mobile scanners on highways to check cars as they go by? Whatever happened to the concept of unreasonable search and seizure?
Also if the TSA detained him, then he has the right to charge the clerk who did so with forcible confinement. TSA are administrative clerks and have no power of detention or arrest. They can deny you access to the sterile area but they cannot detain you.
It drives me nuts how so many people have rolled over and submit to anything the government wants to do, all in the name of "security".

Ah so now he was arrested?
Seems to me that they just wouldn't let him use the plane until he completed the screening. He was free to charter another flight, rent a car and drive OR catch the next flight.
I do feel that Mr. Paul was trying to make a point, he made it and went on with his business.
I think that people trying to portray the incident other than how it actually happened in order to try to make it seem worse or more dramatic are doing his position a disservice.

He was not arrested, or detained. His position does not mean he does not have to submit to airport security like all other people, so his behaviour does indicate that he thinks he is above the law.
The Senator refused a pat down, obviously that makes him a terrorist.
This is what a police state looks like. Anyone here who thinks it's a good idea for the TSA to be using the x-rated scanners or doing pat downs on ANYONE is a moron. It's theater, you are not safer because of this, in fact you are less safe because you are giving up your rights for the illusion of safety. By complying with this garbage you are making everyone less safe because you are only feeding the government's lust for power and making everyone stupid slaves.
Hyperbole FTL.
