First, the positive: Bin Ladin is dead, as Obama pointed out with his flag story, so Mr President, that
is good reason to end our occupation in Afghanistan.

The speech will have the opposite effect on his
re-election. Folks know things have not changed.
It came off as a stump speech, not a great speech.

Obama always chooses an easy speech.
A true leader can give a hard speech on difficult issues:

The one thing that stood out (pissed me off); was when Obama was talking about our military.
He completely skipped a generation, our Vietnam Vets.
He went all the way back to World War II Vets
touting their accomplishments to America.

Sure, it's "safe to bring up World War II - that's easy.
But, our Vietnam Vets are still very much alive.
Yep, you can add the Korean War in there too. Oh, so many
wars, so little time....

It's because the "other conflicts" we had/are having
continue to have so many undesirable commonalities:
Suicide, Disability, Psychological, Drug/Alcohol addiction, Health care expenses,
and importantly, War adding to the National debt.

Obama idealizes war, and that IMO is a dangerous thing.
I am so hoping Obama IS NOT our next commander in chief.

Yes, only a little over four and half years more to go

Interesting, I am a Vietnam Vet and did not feel the least bit slighted, some have outrage over the silliest things.

That sounds like something one would say, when they
were waiting for something "to finally end"

You missed my point completely. Some folks like you simply say the silliest things

Did anyone actually listen to the words coming out of his mouth? He was essentially advocating for a command economy on energy policy...

Not just that, he is preparing the public for war with Iran, adding several new governmental agencies, and is planning on increasing taxes on companies with offshore facilities. The consequence of which will be those companies leaving the United States entirely.

Obama is a gifted speaker, but a horrible president.

I was listening ---totally agree with your assessment,
except I don't think Obama is "that gifted" of a speaker.
Good imitator though.

He is a good speaker. But he won't follow through with any of his promises. He is an empty suit.
