That reminds me of one of the odd reasons given for the relatively high income of politicians. The money is supposed to keep them from taking bribes or otherwise acting immorally

Their pay means nothing. They'd run if they weren't paid at all. It's the perks of the job that they're after. The power, the law making, the control, the palm greasing and elbow rubbing. Chris Dodd is a perfect example. He is being paid $10,000,000.00 to lobby for the film industry. Think about that for a minute, let it steep until the truth sets in.

No, the real reason is that they have to maintain two completely separate households: One in Washington, which isn't a cheap place to live, and one in their home district or state. The law requires them to be a legal resident of that district or state and that requires a legal address.

Which of course does nothing to justify their premium health care subsidized by the people, their cushy pension program, their legal insider trading, etc., etc., etc............................................... ......

If they're engaging in insider trading, that's illegal. But, their health care and pension is no different than any other federal employee.

But that probably only applies to the relatively few "federal" politicians, most politicians are local in the US as well, I suppose

More than that.

Just thought I'd check to see if there was more coming his way.
