The Ft Lauderdale project is a perfect example of how a large scale infrastructure project can be completed without having to be paid for by tax payers. Now we have another project in Miami, an underwater tunnel, which is also being funded privately.

The builder/funder is allowed to collect road tolls for 35 years, to make recoup their investment and to make a profit.

Quote:
The concessionaire will finance, design and build the project, and operate and maintain the system under a long-term 35-year agreement with FDOT.

The overwhelming majority of the people paying tolls are tax payers.

I've never claimed to be bi-partisan. It's sort of impossible to be bi-partisan when I believe that both of these parties are bad. The right just seems to have a worse case of mania, at this point in time. Perhaps you're misinterpreting my response to what I see as a massive shift to the right among conservatives since Obama was elected as partisanship, but I assure, you're mistaken, and it's the departure from moderate conservative views among folks like you that is to blame. You've gone so far right that ANYONE left of you looks "radical". Perhaps this is by design?

Anyway, Chinese food has arrived; I hope you manage to pull your head out of The Sands of Partisanship before you grow too old...
You've been pounding your chest this entire thread about your non partisan views and then come up with this nonsense?? LOL. I guess you've thrown in the towel and admitted your true colors even though I called you out on em back in the beginning of your rant. Don't worry about being sane your posts prove otherwise.

Finn your going to have to point out where ANYBODY has defended this program, well other than your new buddy tagging along here. I'll await your proof.

Well ( ) with this project you pay tolls only if you choose to use the express lanes. If you don't want to pay, you can take the slower lanes.

I don't know about your state, but in Florida more than 1% can afford 50 cent road toll. But it is a choise, as even those who can afford it can choose to not pay if they are not in a hurry.

Not everybody can afford .50 toll a day so it's just plain not fair. How will they afford their 2.00 cup of coffee??

It is the pattern of the left.

How many times do we have to correct the left on the 2 wars that the left continually, even after 10 years, say that it is ALL Bush's fault when a dem controlled Senate voted in FAVOR for the actions AND CONTINUALLY voted FOR funding them. The ALWAYS exclude the dem participation.

They have been harping for 10 years about the WMDs and ignore ALL the statements made by dems BEFORE Bush ever came onto the scene.

They constantly use the phrase, "during Bush's administration or 8 years how bad things were again ignoring the actual record of the first 6 years.

They are now harping about Newt's ethic history ignoring heall but one charge was dropped. the one charge was a technical violation by 1 attorney. Later the IRS CLEARED Newt of any wrongdoing and NEVER had to pay the fine.

There are so many examples I could write for weeks but, you get the point.
