President Obama ran — and won — in 2008 on the idea of uniting the country. But, each of his first three years in office have marked historic highs in political polarization

Nobody should be surprised. The best word to summarize the Obama presidency: Failure

Throughout these past 3.5 years all we have heard is "this group is bad" or "that group is bad" and "tax these people so you can feel better". Then it was blame the Dems or blame the Repubs.
And it wasn't only coming from the President but he sets the tone for the country by his example.

If anything we are more divided now than ever. There was very little done to "unite" us.

But as they say...

united we STAND, divided we FALL.

Yes well the Republicans are sore losers is what it comes down to.

They just couldn't come to terms with the fact that the country did not WANT Papa John and Caribou Barbie and so resorted to spreading lies and trash talking wherever possible.

I lost count of the stupid chain emails I got from my conservative friends that were based on falsehoods - the one about Obama honoring Jane Fonda (it was Barbara Walters, and it was ten years ago), the one about Obama voting for a palatial prison in Illinois (actually it was in Austria) etc etc.

Sure there are many valid reasons to be critical of what he has or has not done. But the sheer propagation of out and out lies is unlike anything I've ever seen.

Like I said:

SORE LOSERS.

And they will be again at the rate they are going with the clown parade in the Repuboican primaries.

He's simply not a good President because he's not a good Leader.

For some reason, Liberals and Democrats put a premimum on Barack Obama that he doesn't deserve. When in the history of mankind did it become affirmative to Lead From the Back of the Pack?™

Aero I agree- he does not have the leadership qualities that we need in a President.

But he got the Democratic nomination - to the surprise of a lot of us who assumed it would be Hillary. And once McCain chose Palin as his running mate there simply was not a choice.

It has nothing to do with this President dividing the nation via class warfare and the result of his constituents buying into the "poor me...I hate the rich" mentality? It's all because of sore losers in the conservative ranks?

Class Warfare?

"...his constituents buying into the 'poor me ... I hate the rich' mentality?"

If it makes you feel better to believe that then go right ahead. Bear in mind, "Recognition is the First Step toward Recovery." As long as vocal conservatives keep trying to paint Obama as being the devil incarnate, they render themselves laughable and unelectable. A little moderation would go a long way.

So he failed because the repubs are sore losers, obstructionists, and declared that their #1 goal was to make Obama a 1 term president!!!!

Looks to me like the republicans are the ones who failed the American people.

There are a lot of individuals who are supported quietly by those who consider themselves 'main-stream' Republicans who are still fighting w/out substance or evidence that the President is not a "natural born citizen" and thus not qualified to be President.

In the face of this, they then have the gall to attempt to portray President Obama as the one who has not shown "unity" for the country.

When a party reaches out and attempts to work with another, it still takes the other party to also reach out to work "together".

Barack Obama spews class warfare tripe....and it shows up in political conversations across all forms of media. Right here on this forum we have people who have bought into the propoganda. However, many of us see it for what it is.....a nation divider. I think it has ZERO to do with "sore losers" as you surmised in your earlier post.
