So simply because they used actual wolves is cause to protest? Not even an alegation of animal abuse and yet they're still going to protest! Give me a break. If you're a hunter or fisherman, take photos of your kill and send them to PETA to enjoy.
Hey PETA, come down to South Louisiana. We take live animals and drop them in boiling water on a regular basis and then eat those crawfish. I hear they do something similiar on the east coast with lobster and crab. I dare you to come protest our actions.
First of all, I have known people who provide animals for movies and they do NOT mistreat their animals at all. In fact, most of them love their animals more than people and treat them accordingly. If I were the people who supplied the wolves for the movie, I would shoot back at PETA with a rebuttal.
Secondly, they are, after all, WOLVES. You can't exactly give them a trailer. You have to crate or restrain them when they are not filming.
Every movie that has ever been filmed has a representative of the SPCA onsite to ensure that the animals are taken care of properly and not mistreated. Despite the fact that I love animals, I do believe that PETA gets way out of hand and that they over-inflate these claims.
PETA needs to concern themselves with the slaughterhouses and factory farms in this country who by FAR AND AWAY mistreat millions of animals daily. Why aren't they marching on the behalf of the 16 million chickens that are killed in this country? Or the cows or pigs? Because it isn't "trendy", I presume.
Until PETA stops it hypocrisy they have no right to complain about anything.
I think PETA started out as a valid organization with legit goals. Unfortunately fame (and outright extremist members) added a layer of sequins to their agenda... and they no longer resemble the original.
