Cuba’s communist-led intelligence services are aggressively recruiting leftist American academics and university professors as spies and influence agents, according to an internal FBI report published this week.
Cuban intelligence services “have perfected the work of placing agents, that includes aggressively targeting U.S. universities under the assumption that a percentage of students will eventually move on to positions within the U.S. government that can provide access to information of use to the [Cuban intelligence service],” the five-page unclassified FBI report says. It notes that the Cubans “devote a significant amount of resources to targeting and exploiting U.S. academia.”
“Academia has been and remains a key target of foreign intelligence services, including the [Cuban intelligence service],” the report concludes.
I cannot say that I am surprised by this report. Cuba and other leftist anti-American regimes in Latin America have a long standing policy of trying to undermine the United States and the unity of the American people.
Here's an interesting tidbit:

One recruitment method used by the Cubans is to appeal to American leftists’ ideology. “For instance, someone who is allied with communist or leftist ideology may assist the [Cuban intelligence service] because of his/her personal beliefs,” the FBI report, dated Sept. 2, said.
The prime examples of this are Puerto Rican separatists (ie: PIP, MNIH, Soberanistas, etc) and Black militants (ie: the Black Panthers). Some extreme far left members of the Democratic Party also hold a certain level of sympathy for the Cuban regime (ie: De Blasio).

What is that saying ... oh yes, "two wrongs do not make a right".
The Cuban lapdog dictator Maduro of Venezuela should focus on ensuring that the Venezuelan people have toilet paper instead of worrying about what the United States does.

And the US should focus on taking care of the US without worrying about what every other country's doing but alas, that's not been the case for well over a century, eh?
We know everyone's spying on everyone else. Statements like this from the FBI seem little more than excuses to request a bigger budget. IF we concentrated on making ourselves strong from within it wouldn't matter a tinker's damn what anyone else is doing.
From the report cited, which was hosted only on FreeBeacon.com and not any government server. A site that also states the Chinese are coming over to the US in order to brainwash students in the US as part of a conspiracy based on...nothing. Also that 1% leftists are behind the fast food protests as part of some conspiracy to do something they cannot even identify.

The information in this article is largely derived from self-admitted former Cuban intelligence officer, Jose Cohen,
who defected in 1994. Mr. Cohen wrote an article titled, “Castro’s Intelligence Service and the US Academic
Community,” that was published in 2002 as a part of the Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies
Monograph Series.
One guy said it and stated that it was a part of a strategy of bribery, blackmail, and threats. So far they could not identify a single person or institution where this was used to do anything at all. Let alone anyone who actually took it. Talk about raging idiocy.

I honestly think that Fox News was duped by a site that is either an Onion parody of paranoid wingnuts, or a paranoid wingnut site (which seems too crazy for reality) that some news intern found and ran with before checking it out.
Even if we get past those hurdles and trust the document itself...It's also from someone that defected 2 decades ago, publish and discussed in classes for the last 12 years, and they are just picking it out and freaking out about Cuba now. Like it's a slow news day for fear-mongering...let's pretend this is happening right now.

Seriously dood, you're afraid of Cuba? Are they gonna drive over the water in their circa 1950 cards and take over Texas or something?
