Quit the emotion and think for yourself. If you don't even know what recession means then don't post about it.

No clearly he doesn't. Just another emotional social conservative unable to deal with the idea that the people and party he loves caused this mess.
You do realize that Clinton, Reagan and Carter all had to change the definition of UE so as not to alert you to what cliff the US economy is quickly approaching. You're looking at the here and now and completely dismissing, or ignoring, the very obvious decline of the American way of the 50's and 60's. When it's all said and done the American way will be 1/5th of what it is today or in a more real way it'll be like the Great Depression everyday from here till 3737 AD.

If you expect anyone to take your "the sky is falling" messages serious, you should at least try being factual and avoid the hyperbole. We are in a great depression, now to 3737???? Really, we might as well pack it in now.... So how did we slide into this 1725 year long depression?

My guess is your crystal ball needs a serious recalibration

Under Reagan, the dollar soared.

Under Bummer, it loses value every day.
Speaking of the Misery Index, when was the last time you heard of it from the lame stream media?

Maybe you should head your own advice.

Let's look at those 8 years you are stating were so bad.

"Publication: Business Wire
Date: Friday, January 4 2008

More Than 8.3 Million Jobs Created Since August 2003 In Longest Continuous Run Of Job Growth On Record

WASHINGTON -- Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released new jobs figures - 18,000 jobs created in December. Since August 2003, more than 8.3 million jobs have been created, with more than 1.3 million jobs created throughout 2007. Our economy has now added jobs for 52 straight months - the longest period of uninterrupted job growth on record. The unemployment rate remains low at 5 percent. The U.S. economy benefits from a solid foundation, but we cannot take economic growth for granted and economic indicators have become increasingly mixed. President Bush will continue working with Congress to address the challenges our economy faces and help facilitate long-term economic growth, job growth, and better standards of living for all Americans.

The U.S. Economy Benefits From A Solid Foundation

* Real GDP grew at a strong 4.9 percent annual rate in the third quarter of 2007. The economy has now experienced six years of uninterrupted growth, averaging 2.8 percent a year since 2001.

* Real after-tax per capita personal income has risen by 11.7 percent - an average of more than $3,550 per person - since President Bush took office.

* Over the course of this Administration, productivity growth has averaged 2.6 percent per year. This growth is well above average productivity growth in the 1990s, 1980s, and 1970s."

Obama serves his special interest groups (environmentalists, socialists) but leaves the common man who built this country out to the wolves.

You cannot defend Obama's economic record, so that's why you have to resort to blaming Bush. Ill give you this much, even if Bush caused this, Obama, trillions of dollars in debt later, is responsible for this most pathetic excuse for an "economic recovery" in American history.
"Obama was given the task of cleaning things up".

Let's be clear. he WAS"NT GIVEN the task. He ASKED for it.

He said he could fix it.

He even said if he couldn't fix it in 3 years he didn't deserve a second term.

I have friends and family who do live thruout the US. Being honest and sincere her, a lot of people i know and some acquaintiances, are not doing all that well. Even those who make a very good living, are feeling the pinch. It is all around us...The housing situaion is one of the worse ever, and taking such a long time to bounce back,, so many people have lost values on their homes, because of the fact of so many older and new lsitings of foreclosures on the market.
Prices ar up across the board.
And yes with Obama's spending he has contributed to this economic mess. At some point you stop blaming the other guy, and take blame and aim, at yourself and your administration. At this point no excuses necessary, we can read between the lines.

I would like to have the numbers of those who have actually given up on looking for a job. I happen to know a few middle aged men and one women, who were let go from their jobs, of a long time standing. For no reason, i believe except to save a buck. After Obama took officie, they were let go, and up to a year and a half later. Well they did have good jobs with a decent salary and title. They have gone on many a job interviews, to get turned down, guess why, because they have been out of work. Is that their problem! really now is it.

Things are black and white to me, unless i can see everyday growth, all across the board, for at least 6 months striaght, as some economisits say need to happen.

And if you someone who can definitely take the creidt, when things are right, then Man up, and take things like a Man, when things are screwed up!

How does this simple fact keep getting missed by people that insist on talking about the economy:

Corporate profits have been record highs for 3 straight years. Companies are sitting on TRILLIONS in retained earnings & profit. Corporate bonuses & are at all-time highs. The economy isn't the problem; it's the hoarding at the top levels that's the problem.

And the sheep believe that lower taxes for the "job creators" are the solution. It isn't. Those at the top ALREADY have as much money as they want (not need) to spend. Why else are their trust funds & private equity accounts & tax shelters at record highs? B/c they need some place to put the money they're not spending!

Well, on cable it would seem FOX IS the MSM based on the cackling we hear on this board. They're sure doing a lousy job helping Obama.

I know, it is nearly impossible to explain how things are getting better, with it getting better like it is.

To answer the OP's question using facts:

1. We've gone from negative GDP growth to positive. United States GDP Growth Rate

2. We've gone from losing jobs to adding jobs. (data.bls.gov)

3. Declining unemployment rate. Unemployment in the U.S. - Google Public Data Explorer

So that's how our economy is getting better. Our GDP is decreasing, more people are getting jobs.
