45% goes to entitlements. Social security, Medicaid, Welfare... all programs that need to be seriously trimmed.

This cradle to grave entitlement crap is what is killing this country.
SS is not an entitlement program in the same sense as welfare. People contribute and yes they are entitled to get their money back. If you want to go a long way in helping SS, do away with SS disability, except for those who are truly disabled. I know too many people who do not deserve it and are quite capable of working.

The military is 20% of the Fed budget, while social programs account for 60%. The left's financial solution is always a call to gut the military, but keep hands off entitlements. In fact, let's create more entitlements. Not only is entitlement spending the biggest burden on our budget, it's also the fastest growing expenditure. More people are on food stamps today than ever before. Baby boomers are starting to draw from Social Security. We're facing a very serious and uncomfortable problem that nobody in Washington (outside of the few like Ryan and Paul) is willing to address.

While the military is far too large, it's not the looming financial disaster that our rapidly growing social spending is.
At the very least the cuts should be across the board. It's foolish the amount of spending on social programs. They should cut that in half.

The senate GOP has now made proposals to throw 5% of federal employees in the unemployment line, just so they can continue their massive spending.

They could easily cut the welfare programs by having only one program -- end TANF, food stamps, unemployment, Section 8, WIC, Medicaid and so on and so on as separate programs. Roll them all into one.

End all welfare programs for the able-bodied with IQs over 70 -- by far most welfare recipients have 2 arms and 2 legs and are perfectly able-bodied. They could work in some kind of job. Limit welfare to only those who have a real and severe physical disability. Cut it off to all drug addicts and alcoholics.

Panetta said the military will get smaller, and that the new budget would cut Army forces to 490,000 and the Marine Corps to 182,000. The cuts would reduce total ground troops by 100,000, and also include a request for a new round of base closures and slowed production of the F-35 fighter.

Means tested welfare programs are higher than defense spending. There are about 180 programs.

It also comes down to the role of government. Defense is first.

Keep SS and Medicare solvent by minor changes. Have unemployment and food stamps for 6 months. After that everything else should be the role of private charities.

Where do y'all get this stuff.

NO ONE IS CUTTING MILITARY SPENDING.

The Obama administration has sworn to lower the amount of increase, but its still a damned increase.

Military industrial complex, both parties are puppets to it.

Military spending cuts I'd like to see-close all of our foreign bases and bring all our troops and materials home. Use these resources to be the muscle behind the border patrol and replace all the TSA employees. Through attrition, eliminate the bulk of the top brass and reduce the number of people that can be promoted to such high ranks thus reducing the number of high ranking officers. Eliminate wasteful military spending like three or more golf courses on Air Force bases maintained to PGA levels. Allow the purchase of common items from civilian discount or department t stores instead of the extremely expensive military system. Start a program in which enlisted service members and officers can contribute money saving ideas to an agency outside his or her command. Some senior enlisted and senior officers refuse change or will take credit for a good idea.

Ways I'd like to see money saved on the government side (non-military)- eliminate pensions for all new hires at the federal, state, and local government employees. Give them a choice of retirement decisions (excluding pension) and offer match contributions to their choice of accounts. Eliminate pension pay for elected officials. Just because you served two, four, or six years doesn't mean you deserve a paycheck for life. Make all federal, state, and local employees pay into SS(included elected officials). This next one is a big pipe dream-no pork added to a bill that isn't directly related to the original intent of the bill. All pork is to be voted on separately. Even better, I'd like to see all votes kept secret until voting has ended and you cannot go back and change your vote once it has ended. Some members of congress watch the voting and when it appears their vote won't matter, they'll vote against how they feel personally in order to help their election next season. Example, a pro-abortion Democrat in a conservative district voting against an abortion promoting bill only after seeing that the bill will pass even without her vote.

Why can't liberals EVER tell the truth about anything? Hey libs, if you stop lying for a minute people might actually stop hating you. Just a tip...
