even http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_th...emocracy_Class states that 13,000 turn 18 every day

so the fact that 10,000 boomer retire everyday is NULLIFIED by the fact that 11,000-13,000 turn 18 every day

Most 18 year olds don't go into the work force, on purpose, when they turn 18. Many of those who just turned 18, are in school now. They won't graduate until May, and then they'll usually pick up seasonal work, take vacations, get ready for college. Most won't go to work right away.

Where were you wingnuts when the raw numbers showed a positive number before Xmas?

Raw numbers put in context:
Quote:
Seasonally adjusted:

Private-sector jobs lost to "trough" (bottom of recession): .....4,212,000 Private-sector jobs gained since "trough": .....3,663,000

*(This is the number often used by Obama and the Democrats as the number of private jobs created since the "trough" of the recession . It is a correct number, but it is a seasonally-adjusted number. In "real" unadjusted numbers, 2,954,000 private sector jobs have been created since the "trough" of the recession.)

Net LOSS in seasonally-adjusted private-sector jobs since Obama took office: ....549,000

"Raw:" numbers not seasonally adjusted:

Private-sector jobs lost to "trough": .....4,151,000 Private-sector jobs gained since "trough": .....3,470,000

Net LOSS in "raw" unadjusted private-sector jobs since Obama took office: .....681,000
Bottom line, not a huge difference and Obama and the media are using the traditional number that past presidents have used.

Thing to remember, these numbers are estimates based on phone interviews.

Really? How do you justify 1.2 people dropping off the roll in one month?

I'm not worry about that one person but I'm deeply concerned about that .2, they should seek medical attention.

Seriously, what the help you bitching about now? 1.2 what?

Weren't you one of those wingnuts running around defending bush and saying there was no recession back in 2008?

FYI, the numbers I cited were over the three years Obama was in office.

Then why is the MSM harping on the low employment rate of young adults 18-25 especially with Blacks ? It's a "crisis" with them.

You just got to figure that life must be good if 36-37% of the workforce don't have to work.

So which is it ?

Just this past November a poll showed that 73% of boomers will work past retirement age (65) nevermind leave the workforce at 55 as the BLS reports.

The Associated Press-LifeGoesStrong.com poll found a baby boom generation planning to work into retirement years — with 73 percent planning to work past retirement, up from 67 percent this spring.
