It's pretty much official, much of City-Data's left-leaning posters have turned into insufferably pompous asses when it comes to anything election-related.
So, I guess that would make them right-leaning CD posters now.
Interesting how the subject of Egypt has gone to being all about Obama.
Maybe we can get it back on track.
I don't know if there was a thread started about the Americans in Egypt who have a travel ban. One of them, Sam Lahood, is the son of Ray Lahood, Secretary of Transportation.
Several NGOs were raided and the Americans (10) fled to the American Embassy. Ray Lahood was denied travel at the airport when he was leaving Cairo.
The Egyptian government (military? Muslim Brotherhood?) are claiming that the NGO's intereferred with the government. In a way I guess they are right because the NGOs were working with the people who wanted Mubarak out of office. Would the US tolerate foreign people on US soil working with Americans who were trying to overthrow the government?
Also today, 2 American women, 60 and 65 years of age, were taken from a tour bus, near Sharm El Sheikh, by heavily armed bedouins and are being held hostage in exchange for the release of some prisoners held in the Egyptian jails. There were other tourists on the bus from other countries but it appears that Americans were the target.
I guess the Egyptians aren't familiar with the saying: be careful what you wish for, you may get it. Problem is, their wish came true - Mubarak stepped down - but the repercussions weren't something they expected. I'm sure Mubarak is looking pretty good to the Egyptians right now, as well as to Obama, who encouraged the movement and for Mubarak to step down.
The only card the US has now is holding back aid money. In the meantime Americans are holding up at the Embassy, 2 Americans have been taken hostage and Egypt is burning.
Backing those who overthrew mubarak destabilized Egypt, as we now see.the destabilization of Egypt.
That's personal insult #3 from the lefties.
