The vote, in which 13 of the Security Council’s 15 members voted for the resolution, came a day after Syrian authorities moved to crush resistance in the town of Homs, killing hundreds of civilians, according to the White House, as Syrians observed the 30th anniversary of the massacre of tens of thousands of civilians in the town of Hama.
Russia, China veto U.N. resolution on Syria - The Washington Post

Tell me again why we enrich mercenary China by buying their crap and allow Russians into this country to milk the system and expand their Mafia presence here? Two scumbag nations.

The high-level diplomatic setback came after world leaders and Syrian opposition activists accused Assad's forces of a massacre in a sustained shelling of Homs, the bloodiest episode in 11 months of upheaval in the pivotal Arab country.

With an eye to events in Homs, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice dispensed with the usual diplomatic courtesies and declared she was "disgusted" by the Russian-Chinese veto, adding that "any further bloodshed that flows will be on their hands".

I was not aware that such myths existed. Where in either of their histories could a myth such as that have taken root?

My question is why are we still in the UN? The UN seldomly votes in the interests of
the US, to include the security council. We are using US treasures and manpower to enforce UN objectives that are also not really in our interest why? Wouldn't we be better served to withdraw from the UN and form a coalition of allies of our own? If we ever want to stop being the worlds policemen, we need out of the UN.

That's because UN resolutions tend to lead to another US led war to "protect human rights" AKA getting rid of regimes we don't like.

I think Russia and China said fool me once shame on you, but fool me twice then shame on me. General Wesley Clark stated, during the 2007 presidential primaries, that a top general told him that there were plans to invade a series of countries.

The Plan -- according to U.S. General Wesley Clark (Ret.) - YouTube

I think Russia and China witnessed what happened with Libya and how the UN went way beyond its mandates of setting up a no fly zone. In fact, they took the side of the rebels and helped the rebels by bombing places loyal to Kadaffi. Their goal was regime change. Their goal in Syria is regime change as well, because Syria and Iran are tied at the hip in the way the US and Israel is.

Americans are such hypocrites. If one of the many militia groups in America started an armed attacked upon the government in opposition to what they feel is the unconstitutional direction of the nation, our government would violently subdue them. Anywhere on this earth, any people who take up arms against the government will be violently attacked by that government whether it’s a democracy or a dictatorship.

Who is arming these opposition groups in Syria? Who armed them in Libya? Libyans enjoyed a very high standard of living under Kadaffi. Has anyone even bothered to google and see what life is like for Libyans today? Life has become terrible for Libyans……but the Oil is now controlled by the West.

It's nice to see there are some wordly, well informed, intelligent people left in this world who understand the true motives of all governments even the hypocritical US government full of lies and tyranny. You are exactly right. Let one state try to secede.......the US military would swoop in and there would be more bloodshed than Syria and Libya combined. Americans are such naive fools! I'm ashamed of my government. They are a bunch of clowns!

Though I don't agree with Russia and China almost all the time, I agree with them on this. First, it's time for us to stop being world police. Second, we need to end and withdraw from Afghanistan before picking another fight. Third, this being a Middle east nation, who is going to replace Assad? Muslim extremist ruling by Sharia law? Since the Muslim nations want something done then let them handle it if they wish for "The Great Satan", aka USA, to stay out.
