His statement comes on the heels of CPAC's decision to ban gay conservative groups from their conference. He compares bigotry against gays with bigotry against blacks in the 1950s and 1960s.
Frankly, I'm not so sure racial bigotry is all that dead among them. I know plenty of die-hard, evangelical Republican's who simply will not support anything Obama does because he's black.
Of course Goldberg can't say that. Nobody can, but it seems to be true anyhow.
And I know plenty of die-hard, radical progressives who simply support anything Obama does because he's black.
And my Republican representative, Mary Bono Mack, is pro-choice. I can accept that, and so can most of my district. But in most of this country, she'd be pilloried by Republicans as a baby killer.
Many or most Democrats were conservatives back then. This isn't about political parties.
