If an NFL player decides to get wasted on alcohol and high on marijuana before every game, that is his prerogative.
But if his talents and game is effected because of those choices he should expect the repercussions of his actions and some other talent will gladly fill his shoes to make Millions of Dollars.

You can't stop EVERYONE from making bad choices!!! Please understand that.
Sometimes I wish people that wanted to control every aspect of an ADULTS' life should just move to some Island somewhere with all the rules and mandates they can dream up, and let America be the country it was truly intended to be.

Weed does not enhance a player's performance. The only legal drugs the NFL bans are performance enhancing.

I visited Mount Vernon the estate of George and Martha Washington this weekend and was fascinated to find that the father of liberty grew and smoked Hemp. The clothes were also most likely made from the plant although I coundn't get a difinitive answer. He found that tobacco ruined soil and was not as profitable. Thomas Jefferson also grew Hemp.

"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere." - George Washington

"Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country." - Thomas Jefferson
Could be a great idea. farmers who no longer make a living (many in mid-America) could grow it. It might make American society a better place to be as well. less anger and rage.

The war on drugs is a joke, it always as been. We have troops in Afghanistan guarding opium fields.

I'm glad we outlaw dope and have the war on drugs. I see drug users as not worth much to society and should be punished. They don't mind either so it's a win win for us.

Even if legalized, the NFL could still tell its players that they'll be removed from their respective teams if it shows up in their system.

Private employer and all that.

That's about as stupid as saying if you go hunting you can't play on the PGA Tour.

How many hundreds of thousands of lives will be ruined by the brainless war on drugs before the American people will wake up to this insanity?

Why have we allowed our government to become so big and so powerful that we allow it to tell us how to live our lives even if it makes no sense at all? Maybe we should all double our weed purchases to help make this point.

We spend more money than ever before "fighting" drugs in this country and at the same time we have more drugs than ever before.

That's true. They could have a rule against eating meat too. But why would they?

Of course, but why would they do it if it was illegal? They don't ban them from drinking and smoking cigs.
