How nice that the government has decided to use my tax dollars to test the purity of beach sand! Just what this country always wanted. What other altruistic measures can I spend my tax dollars on? How about the amount of bacteria per square inch on the I-95? Or maybe the salinity per cubic feet in the Pacific ocean? I am also dying to know if the government can help us track the weather changes in La Rinconada, Peru.

I always feel warm and fuzzy inside when I read these reports. I really hate the feeling of money burning a hole in my pocket and I am glad the government can find new and cool ways to spend it.

Thank you EPA!

YEAH! Just what the hell are they thinking trying to find the source of illness which may then possibly be prevented?

I say unprotected sex for everyone!

Don't build solid waste treatment plants near public beaches? That seems to be the culprit according to the article.

There was e-coli outbreaks a few years back on beaches in NC near older houses with septic tanks which stick out into the water due to erosion. Plenty of coastal properties along the Gulf and eastern seaboard are probably facing similar issues.

Who says they need to do that? Perhaps it will be used to inform people visiting the beach, or doctors seeing patients presenting with GI symptoms can ask about recent beach visits when diagnosing.

I suppose you thought studies showing a link between pregnant women cleaning cat litter boxes and birth defects were worthless since scientists couldn't stop cats from pooping.
