Liberty is an idea whose time has come.

I'd rather live free in a tent in the USA rather than a subject of the crown in Britain or her protectorates. Of course we settled that back in 1776 didn't we.
We sure told that fat whack job Mad King George where to get off. But the sad part is that we have a President arrogating powers to himself that not even George himself dared think in his power.

I feel for those in Tent Cities. I really do. But, I bet if I went and documented the lives of all of these people, I could find one or more horrific life decision that led to him/her living in a tent. I'm not attempting to be righteous.....not at all....but there's a limit to my sympathy for the adults. (The kids are a different story.)

Indeed. And, sadly we see posters on CD cheering with every power usurped as this country is marched down the road toward totalitarianism.

Those who do not learn from history........

Not like republicans have even tried to address this problem, much less fix it.

Please, this is just a stupid response. If you can't respond to the topic in a manner that makes you look at least somewhat educated, then please don't respond. Rather, just read. You might learn something.

First off:

Everyone on this planet has made a bad mistake or life decision at some point in their lives.... (actually, everyone's made a vast MULTITUDE of them)

Second off:

If that's your excuse and justification for what is shown in the video, then, quite frankly, I just find that pathetic and disgusting....

We all make bad decisions. It's called being human. We are not machines. When rich or middle class people make bad decisions, they usually have something to fall back on. When a person living day-to-day struggling as it is makes a wrong turn, he or she is basically screwed.

We spend half of our tax dollars not on waging profitable wars for the rich..but on health care...Canada is always in debate concerning free medical care..but some how we have maintained the sytem for decades.. A person say with a brain tumor - can have the same doctor that treats a prime minister or president..Our hospitals are beautiful..and no one loses there house because the medical profession has become an entity powered by greed..

Those who take glee in the misery of others are monsters...to even hint at being "proud" that you have poor shows an immature and undeveloped character..The so-called rich...who take pride in the fact that they are not poor - and persecute the poor are fools - their very system that sustains them is artifical ...and is doomed to collapse in time...I an NOT a socialist nut - but I do believe one thing - that the super rich are NOT intelligent or civilized...rich is NOT forever - nor is poor...

To have misery in your midst and be emotionally immune to it - to ignore it - to believe that some Darwinian theory justifys there being poor and miserable people is to be dellusional.. The poor are created - through corruption...legal crimminal behaviour - There are two types of people in the world ... the burecratic parasite...and the fiscal preditor...between these two sets..they have created an empire.....and when empires are created by the ruthless and cruel - and self serving - they fall..

I was raised by a father who served under the monster Stalin as an honor guard at the Kremlin- He dispised the guy - My dad had witnessed the tail end of revolution - out right world war..starvation..and every hell imagined...He witnessed the misguided doctrine of the Nazis...and came to one conclution....when all things turn to crap and suffering is upon the land - there are no good guys...............it might be to late to bring America back into the fold of civilization...one thing my father lived by can be summed up in this sentence..."There are others" - that to survive - you must ensure the survival of all people..not just yourself...

In the end those that do not care for their fellow American citizens - will stand alone...will be brought to their knees by poverty - and when they cry out for help - no one will be there...because they betrayed their own brothers for luxury and ego centric power.

What's this Conservative's opinion of the video? Well for one, the last city in the U.S. that I would declare "The Capital of Capitalism" would be Vegas.

In addition, the people in that culvert are not former hard working, down on their luck middle class folk, they are current drug addicts and probably criminals.

Finally, this kind of horrifically shoddy journalism is why I pay no attention to the BBC.
