There are a few reasons why this story built up such outrage. The first is she ordered young students to write such letters to send to prison, including their name and address. What other occupation has this amount of authority over such a large group of school age children? Accountants don't have such authority. The other part is the fact that she's sitting at a desk job doing nothing while still collecting pay as the school goes through unions to try to fire her.

Wow, this dude is a child molestor...

Shame he's even in prison. He should be executed and the teacher should not only be fired but also charged with some type of sex offense because you know this guy was using the children's cards for personal greatification.

UPDATE: Just heard on FOX News that as another poster claimed the letters were intercepted by a prison official and never reached the criminal who they were intended for. The teacher is, reportedly, not cooperating.

Just found this link:

"The inmate, identified as John Coccarelli, was incarcerated on convictions in Nassau County for violating an order of protection and illegally possessing a loaded firearm. In 2008, he was charged with a felony count of possessing an obscene sexual performance of a child. He was not convicted on the charge."

"PS 143's principal, Sheila Gorski, filed a complaint against Dean when she learned of the incident from correctional facility authorities, who received the package of cards and deemed them inappropriate for Coccarelli to possess."
