But it's all they've got.
That's exactly right.

BTW, Virginia's governor has backed off a bit from his previous stand on this in light of both local protests and national attention. And according to an article in today's Washington Post:

Quote:
... delegates and governor’s staff were scheduled to meet Tuesday night to strike a compromise after learning that some ultrasounds could be more invasive than first thought, according to two officials who were aware of the meeting but not authorized to speak about it publicly. Many of the bill’s supporters were apparently unaware of how invasive the procedure could be, one of the officials added.
Apparently they were unable to reach a compromise. According to this morning's Richmond Times-Dispatch:

Quote:
For the second day in a row, the House of Delegates on Tuesday delayed final votes on a number of issues, including a bill to require women to undergo an ultrasound prior to an abortion.

"They are freaked out by the (ultrasound) bill and the reaction it's gotten across the country," said Del. Mark D. Sickles, D-Fairfax.

Default VP hopeful McDonnell rethinking vaginal probe bill

VA Gov. Reportedly Rethinking Support For Ultrasound Bill | TPM Livewire (http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/va-gov-rethinking-support-for-ultrasound-bill - broken link)

Virginia's whacko fundamentalist Gov, Bob McDonnell, would dearly love to sign the new law mandating trans-vaginal ultrasounds for women who want an abortion. The allumni of Pat Robertson's diploma mill, "Regent University", has promised to do just that, when the bill hits his desk.

But McDonnell would REALLY love to be Romney's running mate. And the national furor over this awful bill has given him pause.

Not any crisis of conscience is making McDonnell re-think the issue, oh no. Just his political calculations. He's still a woman-hating creep

Any American women who'd consider voting GOP this year needs her friends to throw an intervention.

I guess only if you want to hide the fact there's a real, live baby in there.

You dispute this?

Posting pictures is fine but at least be honest on the gestation period.

Great, so Republicans like this guy are now proposing that American women get treated like Taliban women suspected of betraying their family's honor. Are they now going to propose similar penalties for women here, too?

This bill is more than just disgusting, it is another example of using fear tactics here to get what they want. The whole reason really for this bill is to scare women into not wanting a abortion because they will not want to be probed.
Let's keep this religous and crazy mob away from getting any chance of having power in this Country until they can prove they live in the real world.

Why would I need to "run" from a "fact" that isn't true? Having a sonogram doesn't "force" any viewpoint on anyone. You are free to draw whatever conclusions you want from the images on the monitor.

You know, the fact that you resort to such hysterical shrieking over this stuff really calls into question if you have any actual legitimate points at all.

I think the OP's reading of the situation is probably accurate. McDonnell hesitates to be tarred with this now that it's gotten national attention. If he didn't have further political aspirations, he'd sign it in a second.

Sure are: I know of 2 families in our old church that did. One was a single, gay young man. He was a great father and put up with so much to give his baby (now a 7 year old) a good life. Another couple adopted 2 crack babies.

here is a question for the women who want to have "their choice"

did you ever hear of the pill, diaphram condom, etc????

did you CHOOSE to use them
????

if not, and you "chose" not to use them,,,why do you think you should have ANOTHER CHOICE....

that fetus/baby. is the CONSEQUENCE of your CHOICE....deal with it
