Interesting but demoralizing read.

Bureaucracy in Greece Defies Efforts to Cut It

Quote:
ATHENS — Stories of eye-popping waste and abuse of power among Greece’s bureaucrats are legion, including officials who hire their wives, and managers who submit $38,000 bills for office curtains.

Well, did you expect Greece to ever resolve it's corruption problems, when even the EU is plagued by corruption? Also, Greeks tend to blame everyone else for their own mistakes.

Greece will probably default, there will be an European recession in 2012, and my belief is that Greece will return to growth in 2014 or late 2013. However unemployment will stay high, living standard will be lower, the society will be broken, and they will do the same mistakes.

And Greece has huge military contracts with Germany which they said they will honor.
So, IMF money goes to Greece who turns around and pays Germany for military equipment.

Beefing up their military equipment is a top priority.

This is a MASS transfer of wealth happening right before our very eyes if one does enough research.
Spain and Italy will be next after Greece.

Greece is our future.

Old article. Since then, Greek government has changed - there is a new Prime Minister (in Italy as well). The problems on the other hand, remain.
First order- they should abandon the Euro zone. Next, they should decide on a referendum - what kind of country/society they want.

Happy Texan:
"And Greece has huge military contracts with Germany which they said they will honor.

1) Is that the Greek #1 problem, or their dysfunctional society driven from and by the street?
2) Isn't their situation similar to other European countries with a similar mentality?
