Great point. They're usually out in the "real America" (hint: anywhere white folks can be found) and doing everything in their power not to be seen with us....lest they be accused of actually liking black folks....and by extension, might actually come up with a policy that we like too. (a major right wing crime)
Remember when W Bush made sure to put every prominent black R he could find on the stage in the 2000 convention? For his efforts he was roundly lampooned and 'more blacks on stage than in the audience' became a huge meme on the left.
In other words, as far as the Sharptons, Jacksons, and other 'leaders' are concerned, any R is going to be damned if they do, damned if they don't. And then people scratch their heads and wonder why some R candidates might not go out of their way to reach out to the black community. They've been put in a position where the best thing for them to do is just try to ignore.
Yep they're politicians and do this crap for a living. That's why everybody shows up to Iowa wearing flannel shirts talking about how they grew up working hard and their parents worked hard bla bla bla. Anything to get votes is all it's about. I remember what a big Yankee fan Hillary become when she was running for senate in NY too. They get the idiots to vote for em then forget about em for two, four or six years then come back with the same nonsense for folks to eat up.
Does he speak like a New York Jew when he's in Florida?
They were kids. And yes he is certainly out of touch with them, but so are most of us.
I seem to remember Hillary Clinton actually changing like a chameleon whenever she was speaking to blacks. One minute she's a Wellesley educated white woman running for president, the next she's a black man with 60 years of Jim Crow laws behind her.
Topic at hand is Mitt. But the far right, male contingent here loves to bash Hillary, and Michelle Obama....very very telling about your values, and issues with women in power.

You're right...damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Because speaking jive wins votes. Lots of jive spoken in Salt Lake.
What's jive?
