I'm frankly surprised that California still has open campuses. They've just about disappeared here in Texas, at least for elementary and middle school kids.

For those of you who oppose this, let me ask you a question: Should 1st and 2nd graders be allowed to leave campus and buy food from a vendor truck?

No, but that's not the vendor truck's problem or responsibility.

Teachers. Once children are at school, they shouldnt be leaving unless they are in highschool and can drive.

We were never allowed to leave school grounds where I grew up. However, a few kids always tried to leave school grounds and run across the street to the local Dairy Queen.

Guess what? They never made it back in time and got in trouble for being tardy and most likely for leaving school grounds.

We never tried to ban, regulate, or blame the Dairy Queen. Unfortunately, these liberals are blaming the vending trucks because it is always someone else's fault.

That's true. It would be far better to restrict younger kids to the campus.

So then it wouldn't really matter if the food truck is across the street or 1500 feet away.

What are you so afraid of ?

I grew up in NYC and walked to school K-8. Passed plenty of candy stores along the way as well as the bakery, etc. You betcha if we had allowance money on us we spent it on the way to school.

And we all went home for lunch..there was no lunch served at our school.

Just take the kids away at birth and let the government raise them in a closed compound. Then all your fears will disappear.

What purpose do they serve across the street then, other then to over rule the teachers and parents authority.

Go peddle your means elsewhere. I don't want a bunch of strangers running around my kids schools for no reason.
