Another obvious difference: Alternative energy reduces our dependance on oil while also helping the planet, the same one we all HAVE to live on. Until Newt colonizes the moon, this is the only planet that mankind can live on. Alternative energy is only helping to cut away the spreading cancer of greenhouse gases.
In ten year they will be tellig us the hazards of alternatives and the energy to prodcue them.Even then they are like to contribute much to energy needs or the other products like 19000 esentail products producted from crude.Much less the results of uncompititive energy sources on the economy.

That was not the point, it was that GM made a profit of 7.6 billion why do they need a 10,000 subsidy for the Volt ? Do you get it now? why should the tax payers/borrowing money to the tune of 10 billion go to GM when we already have a massive debt.

And they are slashing jobs, pay and benefits for non-union employees despite over a 6 billion dollar profit. For this Obama stold the stock interest of the real owners and gave them to the unions. F them and GM IMO.

How about the money that was swiped from bondholders to go to union-boss-controlled welfare funds? When will we get our money back?

Default GM record profit pays no taxes

Quite the conundrum for the lefty loonies. An evil corporation that pays no taxes yet is their orator's darling. Whatever will they do.

"GM, which plans to begin promoting its relisting on the stock exchange to investors this week, wiped out billions of dollars in debt, laid off thousands of employees and jettisoned money-losing brands during its U.S.-funded reorganization last year.
Now it turns out, according to documents filed with federal regulators, the revamping left the car maker with another boost as it prepares to return to the stock market. It won't have to pay $45.4 billion in taxes on future profits."

GM Could Be Free of Taxes for Years - WSJ.com

"General Motors reported year end earnings figures today. The company made about $9 billion dollars in 2011. How much of its "fair share" is GM paying in taxes? Zero. In fact, from GM's financial report, they actually received a "benefit" of $110 million for the year. The UAW benefited as well, as they are set to receive $7,000 per worker in profit sharing bonuses."

Other big companies pay little or no taxes, such as General Electric. Conservatives surely wouldn't like it if it was required to may more taxes.

Had the government not help GM, America probably would not have the no. 1 company for cars.

I prefer that before tax profits go back to taxpayers.
