What "policy" is he "unfreezing?" You're not thinking very clearly. He is exercising the same prerogative for rule making now as he did then.
Read the article. Obama "froze" last-minute rulemaking projects of the outgoing Bush Admin. There is nothing to dispute there. But he also resurrected a committee to "study" the effect of the last-minute rules on governance and outgoing/incoming Presidents. The indication here is that Obama realized that he had ZERO political cover to reverse the "freeze" on his own expected last-minute rulemaking projects. The article clearly asserts that the outcome of the "study" was indeed the cover Obama needed to avoid being called out for his apparent change of heart.....after freezing the Bush projects.

Let's not pretend that the "outcome" didn't drive the study. It was exactly what Obama wanted to hear.

It's an about-face....an attempt to tamp down the hypocrisy that would/will be highlighted when he engages in the same activity.

Refocus. You're giving Liberals on this forum an even worse name than they already have. Plus, I think you're on the wrong thread.

What happened?
Its his history. He got his first elected post to state house position by challenging two other black democratic candidates voter signtures required to get on ballot at last minute. It was because the voters printed their names instead of signing as technical requaired. The Feamle balck challenger at that time was favored to win.

If you're going to make an allegation, at least get your facts correct. ;-)

The report that's linked mentions an advisor to an advisory committee which will in turn advise WH staff on a subject may make a recommendation. The President hasn't said he's going to do anything different. It must be a slow news day for the extremists in the crowd to be tossing these types of stories about. Delete the link and wait for something more substantial on the matter. That's my advice. :-)

In other words, when a Capitol Hill newspaper....and an influential one at that.....reports on something that could be damaging to the President, you're ready to dismiss it and "wait for something more substantial?"

That's your prerogative. But I believe it shows major bias on your part.

Oh... he didn't just "freeze" them. He studied them and reversed a bumch of them as was his prerogative. I am puzzled how you might hold such a profoundly hypocritical double standard as to suggest that an outgoing president can make rules but an incoming president cannot.

It's part of the responsibility of the executive branch. Why do you suddenly have problems with it?

Read your comment there again. Then read it a second and third time.

You are making no sense whatsoever. How can he reverse a freeze that could not possibly even take place until 2012?

What change of heart are you hallucinating has occurred here? The Executive branch has responsibility for "regulatory law" (i.e. "rule making"). It is admirable that rather than acting preemptively, the president took some time to understand the implications of the last minute Bush rules and reversed those with which he disagreed. And he has continued to make rules through his first term, and will do so through his second.

He will almost certainly be making some right up to the end of 2016. And his successor will have the same opportunity to reconsider those as he did with Bush's.
