No. Marriage is between a man and woman. "Marriage equality" states are wrong in what they are doing. Obama is wrong in not enforcing DOMA, yet he takes states to court over enforcing legitimate immigration laws. What a travesty of justice. What a farce it all has become. Good is bad, up is down, right is wrong. It's all too much for a man of my time and up-bringing. Come Lord Jesus.
The thing with the counselor is that she didn't refuse to counsel homosexual people about issues she was qualified to counsel. She had homesexual patients. What she did was refuse to counsel homosexual people on homosexual relationship issues, about which she felt unable to perform counseling. So this was not a case of cherry picking or discrmination. It was no different than foot doctor not wanting to treat a head injury.
.
Well no. The story was about a student who was studying to be a School Counsellor. She stated that her religious beliefs were 'absolute truth' and that she thought everyone should live by her Biblical beliefs. She apparently refused to counsel a gay student as part of her practical training.
The girl was not at all capaple of being a counsellor. She was not capable of abiding by the ACA code of practice and code of ethics of a Counsellor, particularly a School Counsellor. A school counsellor can't just refer a student to another counsellor (especially when she may be the only counsellor at a school) because she feels uncomfortable with any clients who don't conform to her religious beliefs. A counsellor should also not impose their own beliefs and values on clients.
She wasn't 'fired' as the OP incorrectly claimed, she was asked to do some remedial study which she refused to do. She then sued the college when they told her she couldn't continue with the program, claiming a violation of her 1st amendment rights.
The story of the student has nothing at all to do with the story of the Judge. Especiallly since the OP got it so wrong.
This judge is an ass. She is a public servant, if she did not like the laws of her state she should never have sworn to uphold them. What's next, a judge refusing to marry people until polygamy is legal, or until it's legal for 12 year old children to marry?
Thus the entire point of the thread has been proven. Again.
I'm seriously wondering why this isn't locked yet since it's reached its logical conclusion. Ah well.
More ammo to prove these folks wrong with, I guess.
Because all the ignorant loud mouthed homobigots who can't be bothered reading the facts just keep posting their willfully ignorant prejudiced crap.... as usual.
If a judge is going to do any marriages they should not discriminate based on sexual orientation. Doing so certainly calls into question their ability & desire to be impartial.
