True. Depends on state by state and case by case but I have seen situations where it made more sense financially to stay on unemployment than to accept a low-wage job which may impair you from getting work in your field.

This is not necessarily so.
If the question is "What can politicians do about falling marriage rates"?

Of course government can't force some notion about marriage like they are forcing Catholics to provide contraceptives which goes against certain people's rights.

Married couples are more financially stable than people in single parent homes. There could be more tax breaks for married couples to encourage marriage as a real option. Also, welfare discourages marriage. Get people jobs and marriage will increase. Government needs to get out of the way of job creators.
A recent court case supporting the right to gay marriage said a few things about 'marriage'---

"Marriage is the principal manner in which the State attaches respect and dignity to the highest form of a committed relationship and to the individuals who have entered into it.

Marriage is the name that society gives to the relationship that means the most between two adults.

We emphasize the extraordinary significance of the official designation of 'marriage.'"

From the tone of this thread, those stone-age judges ddidn't know what they were talking about.

Why are 72% of Black babies born to unwed mothers? Why don't Black people fix it?

This is bad for America.

Politicians are elected to make laws, etc that help the country. Who cares about the falling marriage rate.... If you do get married the odds are already against you will get divorced 1, 2, 2 ,3, 4 times. So why bother..

Welcome to California where you get free baby sitters that feed your kids all day for free paid for by the state, then money for each kid, EBT, home vouchers, free cell phones and service and free medical.
Try to go from that to nearly none of that with a $10 an hour job.

Of course CA is broke doing that and will have to soon default on a half trillion in government employee pensions that were to get millions of dollars in retirement each.
There is no way to pay for a heaven on earth with other people's money.

People (mostly men) don't want to pay alimony for the rest of their lives to a wife who cheated on them and is now living with her wealthy new partner.

Could you imagine if the "rich kids" couldn't get a abortion............ wow there would be a real levelling of statistics.
Being black doesn't mean that you are more sexually promiscuous or active but as there are many more black's who are poor in the USA than whites, abortion for them, in many cases, is out of the question.
