We can't fix all the world's ills no matter how noble our intentions.
We are causing this uprising in Syria, through proxies. When Assad says these rebels are outsiders, he is correct.
Zawahiri is likely a MI6 double agent who runs al-Qaeda, calling on fighters in Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and elsewhere to wage war against Assad. I don't doubt that we are covertly funding, arming, and training them to bring down this regime. It's not working and Assad is smart enough not to use his air force, so a No Fly Zone is off the table.

People are divided into basically two groups.
One believes that if we witness mass murder or genocide taking place right before our eyes, we should do whatever we can to stop it. There are different opinions on what "whatever we can" means, but the principle is that we have a moral obligation to stop such horrible atrocities.

The other group believes that we should remain silent. Man has no moral duty to help his fellow man.

Reading these posts, it's obvious who is in the first group and who is in the second.

Why is the world doing nothing re Syrian civilian murders?

Because the world has seen what happens to countries that do help other countries that are having their civilian populations killed...

Those countries are called capitalist war mongers, bloodthirsty westerners etc etc etc....
