I wish we could go back to 1950 America.
You must be a middle class white straight male.

For everyone else..... why on earth would they want the 1950's back?

Lightbulb America 1950 vs America 2012

America 1950: the world's industrial powerhouse, because the rest of the industrialized world was still digging out of the rubble of WWII.

America 2012: slipping behind China, because "American" corporations love the communist Chinese workforce and demonize working Americans, preferring to hire illegal Mexicans for those jobs they can't outsource.

A stark contrast, indeed.

Also, there is a kind of fixation on doing stuff like it was done in the 50s, out of some mistaken idea that that worked well, and led to 50s prosperity.

But 50s prosperity was the result of all the competition being bombed to customers who needed American products to rebuild. And doing stuff the 1950s way isn't working so hot with a lot of competitors around, who do things the 2010s way.

I wish it was in the 1940s-1950s too, but without racism.

What about health care? i remember that all doctors and dentists were paid in cash. Were there any medical plans?
Also, what was the Fica and Med Fica rates then? And Did state taxes even exist? if so what were their rates? What about sales taxes, Real estate taxes, excise taxes, gasoline taxes, and use taxes? There also was no AMT tax. I also do not remember taxes on telephones and utilities along with all the other tag along taxes on them.

Honest question -- when Black people hear or see this, they instantly think that the person is a racist because, of course, the 1950's were are brutal time for minorities in this country. Do you understand this perception? Do you care? Did that enter your equation?
