You are not required to participate in welfare programs so unless you're going to suggest we reform SS I don't have to pay into it the suggestion that I have to be drug tested to get my money back is out of the question.

As far as the student loans...... up in the air about that.

If you have 1600 people or nearly 20% of applicants refusing the test then certainly they didn't lose money. As I already mentioned how many people didn't even bother applying at all?

Just 1? well hell that's easy. His entire Foreign Policy is my favorite. Why do you ask? I also do enjoy the fact he would attempt to get the government out of my life at least the federal government....state government is different.

WIC is for kids under 5 and pregnant mothers. My daughter who is 5.5 is off of it now. My wife and son and soon to be my son and daughter will be on it till they are 5.

You want government out of your life, yet you collect food stamps and WIC, and you want government to do drug tests. It's ok if the state government does it, but not the federal. I don't get it.

This depends on the type of test you do. With a hair test, drugs can be found three months later.

Nope, poor minorities, despite the billion dollar welfare handout to Wall St.
The vast majority of companies on wall street already randomly test employees. The bad PR from one exec being caught doing drugs just isn't worth it.

In the corporation I work for, an independent company randomly selects employees every month to test. Everyone is eligible, up to and including the board of directors. If you test positive, you have to go to rehab or give up your job. This is common place in corporate america.

Your snide comment would have been true in 1980, but not today.

How we gonna pay for it, or is it another unfunded mandate?

I haven't read all the state laws proposed, but some have had problems when the courts read them and compare to the provisions of the 4th Amendment.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Those rulings have been based on the thinking that it is unreasonable to search a person for applying for food stamps or other benefits unless there is probable cause, which would be supported by a warrant describing which drugs were suspected, and why (probable cause). Applying for welfare benefits is not probable cause. Applying for a CDL or a fire fighter's job must be because those drug tests have passed court challenges.

Already being done here in FL and it's not cost effective. Only folks making money are the processing labs.
