Why even bother shopping at REI? REI is just overpriced camping, hiking, biking gear aimed at yuppies. You can find the same stuff at a Walmart or even Amazon.com for much cheaper.
Not Wal-mart, but definitely Amazon.com.....for the most part. I'm a long-distance backpacker and I don't even try to shop at big box retailers for the highly-technical (ie. lightweight) gear that I need. Amazon.com generally has what I need, but not always at the best price.
Stores that are not wheelchair or scooter friendly make me crazy. Walmart and Burlington Coat Factory are the worst. The merchandise, especially in the clothing departments, is packed so closely that you can't get through the aisles to shop. I have gotten hung-up on display racks, knocked them over accidentally and gotten bruised trying to get to the item I am trying to purchase.
Restocking fees pi$$ me off. If I return something unopened it shouldn't cost me $15 to have some pimple faced kid walk ten feet and put it back on the shelf.
Cellular Phone carries pi$$ me off now too with their horrible "testing" policies. It used to be you had 30 days to get a phone, test it and return without a fee or switch phones. Now it's 14 days and you still pay a $35 restocking fee. GARBAGE!
When the damn grocery store puts the price on your cold cuts in a way that you have to rip the bag to get it open. End result, your stuff goes bad a lot quicker.
