"The U.S. military unveiled its first fleet of hydrogen-powered electric vehicles this week in Hawaii — part of the Defense Department’s “green initiatives” aimed at reducing the country’s dependence on foreign energy sources.
The services are testing 16 General Motors Equinoxes, which run on hydrogen fuel cells that generate electricity by converting hydrogen gas into water."
Alternative fuel vehicles are nothing new to the Army. The Abrams main battle tank, nearly all heavy trucks and a good many other vehicles have multi-fuel engines which are designed to run on just about any flammable liquid you can pour into the fuel tank.
What? Do you think that you don't have to "pay to refuel" hydrogen fuel cells or something?
Like I said, do some research. I don't think you understand the technology or the costs associated with using it.
Why so negative?
Of course there will be costs involved, but, current knowledge suggests that it will be cleaner and will reduce our dependence on oil, and, personally, the thought of it is just so...21st century.
