They were passengers and crew members for God's sake. And to them, it was the Titanic ... that's what it said on their tickets ... and that's what was was labeled on the side of the ship that they boarded. So, for their purposes, it was the Titanic. If you got on a Southwest Airline 737 that your ticket said was Fl 215 ... how the hell would you know if it was actually the tail number listed for that flight ... to you it would be whatever you were told it was.
So, when the ship left dock, that's what everyone on board and standing on the dock waving goodbye believed too. Why should they not believe it? The freaking 4 foot tall letters on the side said Titanic ... their freaking tickets said Titanic! Why is this so hard for so many of you to grasp? Two virtually identical ships, one damaged far beyond what anyone realized except the owners ... insurance that wouldn't pay for the damage to the Olympia because the British exonerated themselves from fault in the accident between it's Naval vessel and the privately owned passenger ship, so they swapped ships, set the damaged one to sail masquerading as the Brand New Titanic in order to sink it and recover all 12 Million in insurance attached to the new Titanic, turning a substantial liability into a very positive gain.
Of course, had they just sent off the damaged Olympia (which the insurance co would not insure for anything close to the amounts the Titanic was insured for) and sunk it ... that would have been rather obvious, don't you think?
Like I said before, I don't know if the story is true or not .... but those engraved letters M & P under the spots where two of the riveted letters spelling Titanic have fallen off is pretty damning evidence that supports an otherwise chain of anecdotal evidence and speculation.
Of course, Insurance Fraud is such an unlikely thing to occur it should be immediately dismissed in favor of the story you were told in grade school for which you have no supporting evidence other than the story itself.
Besides, everyone knows how honest J. P. Morgan was, so he would never have done such a thing, right?

3. the third ship (originnally to be named Gigantic) the britanic, was constructed in 1914 with post-Titanic modifications...she struck a MINE and sank in 1916.....the remains (of the wreck) It was first discovered and explored by Jacques Cousteau in 1975
Olympic's first major mishap occurred on 20 September 1911, when she collided with a British warship, HMS Hawke off the Isle of Wight. Although the incident resulted in the flooding of two of her compartments and a twisted propeller shaft, Olympic was able to return to Southampton under her own power. . One crew member, Violet Jessop, survived not only the collision with the Hawke but also the later sinking of Titanic and the 1916 sinking of Britannic, the third ship of the class.
Olympic returned to Belfast, and to speed up her repair, Harland and Wolff was forced to delay Titanic's completion in order to use her propeller shaft for Olympic. In February 1912, Olympic lost a propeller blade, and once again returned to her builder for repairs. To get her back to service as soon as possible, Harland & Wolff again had to pull resources from Titanic, delaying her maiden voyage from 20 March 1912 to 10 April 1912.

had the titantic been finished ON TIME (delayed becasue of the olympic FIX) she most likely would not have had the run in with an iceberg

Let's not forget that J. P. Morgan canceled his trip on the "Titanic" at the last minute due to "illness". Also, three prominent American industrialists; Astor, Guggenheim and Strauss all died on the Titanic. All 3 were opposed to a central bank in the United States. Guess who was for a central bank in the U. S.? That's right, J.P. Morgan.
During the sinking, white flares were shot instead of the red flares that were generally used in an emergency. White flares were used for celebrations. James Cameron gives us some clues in his movie. No rescue attempt was made for hours until it was certain that certain individuals had died, namely Astor, Guggenheim and Strauss.
So let's look at the timeline of events:
1912: The sinking of the "Titanic". Astor, Guggenheim and Strauss who were against a central bank in the United States are now out of the picture. White Star Lines collects thier insurance claim for the lost ship.
1913: A central bank is created in the U. S., "The Federal Reserve"
1914: The start of WW1 .
Look, the unfortunate reality is, people tend to embrace the simple stories, rather than the more complex ones. And generally, once people accept a certain belief, it becomes an almost immovable object in their minds. Even in the face of what you or I consider as compelling evidence (particularly the letters on the ship). All of the rest of this story could be dismissed as pure speculation except for those pesky missing letters that are very inconvenient to the official story, and you'll not find anyone willing to actually address that evidence, as they prefer to clutch the accepted story and fire off immature, juvenile comments.
Why people do that is beyond me ... but it is convenient for the false story tellers. They rely on such intellectual blindness, which is pobably the best explanation for why so much corruption can exist and continue to be perpetrated by the same corrupt sources, year after year, decade after decade.

There are ocean liner aficionados who minutely study Titanic, Olympic, (Britannic),etc. with dedicated websites particularly www.titanic-model.com where credible authors of Titanic related books post therein. It is serious stuff to include subjects worthy of naval architecture graduates. This theory has been discussed and the result is....

but let's fail to mention that JPMorgan died less than one year later in rome, Italy
morgan owned International Mercantile Marine Company, which owned white star (titantic).....the titantic going down was a financial disaster for IMM, (morgan) which was forced to apply for bankruptcy protection in 1915. Analysis of financial records shows that IMM was overleveraged and suffered from inadequate cash flow that caused it to default on bond interest payments. Saved by World War I, IMM eventually reemerged as the United States Lines, which itself went bankrupt in 1986. Morgan lost heavily on the deal.
