Actually, no I won't. Why? Because transfer payments (ie. redistributing tax dollars to entitlements) does absolutely nothing to teach personal responsibility. It starts at home, and with millions of broken homes, high school dropouts, the prevalence of crime, etc., there's absolutely NO WAY that personal responsibility is the theme within those families who receive those transfer payments.
I'm a (big) taxpayer. There is no revolving door to stop in my family. The door never started revolving to begin with because personal responsibility is an inherent theme. Therefore, my tax dollars are being thrown at people who have no designs on personal responsibility whatsoever.
I would love to see transfer payments banned for the second and third generations, with a bit of a period now for it to be introduced first. The reason is the irresponsible ones now would know they had to teach Johnny not to follow in their footsteps, as the Government would not be helping out Johnny, too.
If we limited these programs to perhaps every third generation at most, we'd see a significant increase in personal responsibility.

It won't work. In some poor areas you have grandma, mom and her kids all living in the same place. Grandma and mom can each receive welfare and food stamps. Kids get whatever they qualify for.
Now grandma and mom can each qualify for food stamps separately.
Grandma gets welfare and food stamps.
Mom gets welfare and food stamps (more due to kids).
If they live together BUT "buy and prepare food separately" then they are each considered separate households for food stamp eligibility.
Rent a HUD house, grandma and her 3 daughters and each have their own kids. You are now talking big money each month just in food stamps (in the thousands per month).
Plus the kids get free breakfast/lunch/snack or dinner at school.
Now...if you can just find these folks a job which pays enough to support a family, maybe we can replicate your father's experience.
Ooops. Sorry. He'd have to go to China now because that's where our jobs are.
Yes you hit the nail on the head.
What do we have,13% unemployed? Its even higher in poor communities.
What we need to do is bring blue collar jobs back. Everyone wasn't meant to go to college.
We could scream about college education all we want, some just aren't smart enough or motivated enough.
Second,(and I don't know how THIS could be ignored) sent the illegals home....that should free up a million jobs.
