Did you know the recent 'protest slogan' against Vladimir Putin is Biblical ?

Is the other 1/2 of their chant, "Russia will be free!", also Biblical?

The Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church responded: "Romania
wants to join the EU, not Sodom and Gomorrah."

Apparently he didn't realize, the EU is Sodom.

Here is the full quote:

" Romania's powerful Orthodox Church, however, was furious at the decision.
"We need healthy young people in mind and body, like any civilized country,
and we must try to protect them from contamination by such serious sinners,"
said Holy Synod bishop Vincentiu Ploisteanu. "We want to join the European Union,
not Sodom and Gomorrah. "

Biblical freedom is freedom in Christ... freedom FROM sin, NOT freedom TO sin.

No, it's freedom from CONDEMNATION because of sin, not freedom from sin itself.

Default " You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. "

.

" But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. "

Romans 6

You've missed my point about the protests.

You've also missed my point that freedom in Christ is freedom FROM sin, NOT freedom TO sin.

Open societies tend to ignore, tolerate and excuse sin, until sin becomes the acceptable norm...
destroy themselves from within... as some Americans are beginning to realize.

I believe you're missing the point that everyone's motivation for everything they do is not Christ.

I admired and respected my father who was a quiet and 'humble' person .. who needed, nor was given to the worship of 'another' human being!

Doing what is 'right' or accomplishing some great feat .. is no reason to 'worship' someone.

I guess we are different .. you and I.
I don't have the 'need' to sing the praises, or look for strength from another who is doing no more than what I would expect from myself!

You were the one who threw the words revere and worship into the mix.

If that is what makes you feel more complete as a person .. I wont begrudge you for it but .. don't feel 'sad' for me .. simply because I don't believe that any person is deserving of my .. reverence!

I am just guessing here 'but' .. I'll bet that you are first in line for every super-hero movie .. the day it hits the big screen!?

Worship:adoring reverence or regard
the object of adoring reverence or regard
to feel an adoring reverence or regard for (any person or thing).

Synonyms:
honor, homage, adoration, idolatry
honor, venerate, revere, adore, glorify, idolize, adulate.

Revere: to stand in awe of, fear, feel reverence

.

Perhaps my original post needs to be re-read... or perhaps
it's just part of an ongoing difference between East and West.

I used the word hero and the word "worship" [in quotations.]

My meaning was = to honor and revere a hero as an ideal....
much like the Church reveres God's saints who have lived and
died for Christ.

It's sad there are so few heroes today to honor and revere.
