Uh, this topic has been brought up so much. Basically, Bill Cosby called out young Black people and of course, some Black people took it as him being a sellout when in reality he was simply stating the truth. I'm pretty sad about it because Bill Cosby was a strong figure for Black America during the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Bill Cosby did A LOT for the Black community via his presence in media and his push for positivity in the community. The way Black people treated him after he said what he said forgot how much of a positive influence he was for Black people. They basically turned their back on him.
I applaud Bill Cosby for the stand he is taking to help fellow African-Americans from a moral and ethical decline that, sadly, is rampant in that community (not all of it, but a sizable chunk of it, and the mostly young). That was all he was trying to do. Sometimes, you have to do some tough love to get folks to wake up, and that's what he did. And I'm going to continue to support him because I'm concerned about that group of people, too.
Blacks are nearly unanimous in seeing mainstream/conservative personalities Oprah Winfrey and Bill Cosby as good influences on the African-American community – 87% say this about Winfrey; 85% about Cosby.
Note that this poll took place after Cosby's "Poundcake" speech, and after he went onto several interviews restating his case.

When did Oprah become a conservative anything? LOL
