A Gallup poll taken this week shows 50% want to get out before 2014, 24% want to stick to the 2014 timetable, and 21% want to keep troops there until the goals are accomplished.
The poll has some interesting findings on some other questions about Afghan.
No wonder I started this thread. I’m in that 65 and older group!
Thanks for the link! The numbers do not jive with my local poll.
I'm glad you started this thread, fish. It's nice to know that Americans are still thinking about this. I think what's going to happen is we're going to withdraw in 2014 as planned. I hope we draw a lesson from this and don't get entangled in another long war like this, but I know we won't. We never learn. We never will.
WestCobb = "Where's the anti-war movement though?"
It's almost like they were partisan hacks or something...
I'm a Democrat and an Obama supporter, but I'm with you on that. The anti-war movement was losing steam before 2008, but you are right. Had John McCain won, there isn't a doubt in my mind that they would be marching in the streets right now. It's a shame. Matters of war and peace should be larger than what party happens to be occupying the White House at the moment.

What makes our headlines is the latest celebrity scandal or death. We can be on the brink of war and nobody is obviously interested. They would be; if they were the ones that were shot at. Bullets whizzing by and bombs going off tend to get your attention.

Those of us in the military are still following this war very closely, fish. I can't really complain that most have tuned it out though. It's been a decade. It happens. Even my buddies who went to Iraq with me who have gotten out have quit reading the headlines.
American aggression is biting itself on the .... and if IT falls off, don't come crying to me !!!
