No, not really. Bill Maher isn't even a Democrat, and he's a comedian who called a c*** (who also happened to be a political candidate & who has been slammed by liberals and conservatives alike) a c***. So I fail to see how he's in any way connected to the current Rush issue, especially considering he made those comments YEARS ago - and was fairly called out for it at the time.

This whole comparison BS is merely a deflection by the Rush fans, and regardless of how I personally feel about either of their statements (couldn't care less really) I simply refuse to play into this silly game. Besides, I don't know of any law that states you cannot disagree with Rush unless you also acknowledge everything anyone else might have said about women... especially when conservatives are more than happy to condemn Maher without doing the same towards their own "cohorts." Sorry.

The point of the thread has nothing to do with Maher's political affiliation, rather the political affiliation of the Congresswoman who refused to condem his actions and the Obama campaign's acceptance of this misogynists monetary donation.

Deflection is not addressing the thread topic.

That would be me and proud of it!!! She's a stupid C$%*! Seriously, she's a public figure. She's held to the same ridicule as Hillary Clinton's thighs and let's not forget the 'Hillary is a lesbian' thing. Sandra Fluke didn't sign up for Pumpkinhead's wrath. She is a college student who spoke before the House of Reps for what she whole heartedly believes in.

If the thread had any validity, I might address it correctly... but I'm still not seeing how he's a "misogynist" for calling Sarah Palin what she really is. Crass and rude, perhaps, but not really sexist in that context. I use that word (along with the b-word) towards my fellow XX-chromosome humans from time to time, if they deserve to be called such a name. Does that make me a misogynist too? Funny, considering if anything I'm usually accused of being a "feminazi" - LOL.

Sandra Fluke, on the other hand, hasn't (that I'm aware) given us any reason to believe she is promiscuous. So withRush or anyone else assuming women who use birth control are loose, while also acting like men play no part in sexual relationships, or like a committed couple can't be exercising family planning with that birth control? Those are all fairly misogynistic comments, whereas saying a woman is a c*** might actually be a true statement.

Finally, you have to consider the histories of these two men, and what they actually stand for and believe in overall. I've been following (loosely) Maher for a long time now, and he usually takes a stance AGAINST sexism, racism, homophobia, etc... yes, he sometimes makes a questionable or explicit joke, but if you actually bothered to read his books or listen to his serious commentary, you would know he isn't supporting those behaviors one bit. Now Rush, on the other hand? He's been a blatantly sexist & racist pig since the first time he opened his chubby mouth, so we didn't need this incident to know that about him. Not to mention, I don't think he was attempting any jokes in these broadcasts. Support and listen to whomever you want, I don't care - but don't try to act like that idiot is in any way comparable to Bill Maher.

P.S. I'm actually more offended by the general (mostly conservative) public, who seems to be in full agreement with Rush on the issue - even if he hadn't said it, although I'm sure many did get the idea from him first. I was reading a comment thread on Facebook about this very issue, and it was one disparaging "sl** wants us to pay for her sexual activities and loose morals" comment after another. I expect that crap from somebody like Rush, but coming from the rest of society it's a bit troubling. Do you, as a woman, think THAT is acceptable? Are you okay with what Rush & the others are saying?

No, but are you okay with women like Paling being called names like c*nt (just to name one)? Women in 1920 got the equality that we wanted and now we want to be singled out and defended. I think women need to man up. This is ridiculous.

I have the answer to this: The Democrats (Socialists....redundant) fail miserably with double standards. In the minds of leftists, what they do is OK, and what Republicans do isn't. At least, Rush apologized. Where's Bill Maher in all of this??

Hypocrisy is just one of many traits of the left. That's how they conduct business.

Not "okay" with it, but not mad either... considering Sarah Palin actually IS a c*** (in my opinion), whereas Sandra Fluke is most certainly not a prostitute. Actually, I'm not mad at Rush either, so I guess you could call me equally blase about both comments. I mean, c'mon - Rush is a sexist/racist shock-jock who's been offending people for years, and Maher is a foul-mouthed comedian who's also been offending people for a long time. So why are either of these stories even news? I'm more concerned about the actual issues, not what two men I'll probably never meet or vote on are saying.

I'm not looking to be singled out and defended, just generally respected and afforded the equality we deserve. But I also won't be pushed into "manning up" (LOL) about something that isn't offensive to me... do you want me to feign anger, or what? I'm sorry, but I just can't muster up the feelings you all seem to want.
