Maybe there is more to the story but as it stands now why hasnt the shooter been arrested.
Sad story. Unfortunately the disproportionate amount of violent crime committed by young black males has created a fear of all young black males by many people. This kid appears to be an innocent victim of that fear.
At 7:17 p.m., 26 year-old George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch member, called police to report a suspicious person inside the gated community. A dispatcher told Zimmerman police were on the way and to let them handle it.
Just two minutes later, six neighbors dialed 911 to report a fight - and then a gunshot.
The sad this is that the only witness to this is the person who shot the kid. Yes 17 years old is a kid. Can't vote, can't legally sign a contract. A kid. Of course he is claiming self defense because he can. No witnesses. He will most likely get off without anything.

A court of public opinion doesn't have to wait to convict somebody. A white guys kills a black guy in a gated community because he assumed a black person would never live in a gated community and so he must have been up to no good.
The court of public opinion is usually wrong. How do you know why the guy shot the other guy?

So 6 people heard something going on loud enough that they called 911 before the guy got shot... why were they fighting? The original story made it sound like the guy was shot doing nothing but walking on a sidewalk.
The guy's name is known and he's not in custody. Time for the family to get a gun and repay the favor and hurry up before this guy gets pinched. Sometimes justice works better as an eye for an eye for everyone involved.
read the article. the 17 year old was heavily characterized as was the shooter.
i am glad its not the local rag that is the judge and jury.
like most of these whitewashed stories that show up on CDF, there are critical parts missing.
sadly for most posters-- he is white and had a gun-- is all they need to hear to get that conviction.
This is despicable and truly heart-breaking. I know exactly why the murderer wasn't arrested. I mean really, don't we all?

Does this mean that if I see a white man walking with a young child, I should confront him. And if he protests, then shoot him?
