This is how America destroys countries by its senseless foreign policy. We disposed of Saddam, a secular ruler and a Sunni, and gifted the country straight into the arms of the extremist Shiite, thus also making the country a natural ally of Shiite Iran now. What did we achieve? Nothing.
And no innocent Iraqis were killed or tortured by Sadam, right?

Emo in Iraq is slang for homosexual, alot of people on this forum dont seem to understand that. Its just another example of the amazing tolerance of Muslim society.

As for the internal affairs, I have to agree.

I am just pointing out that things weren't so great for the Iraqi people before we took out Saddam Hussein.

Was it better or worse with him? I don't know.

I do know that Democrats approved the use of force in Iraq.

Well I don't live there, but let's think about it....hundreds of thousands dead, infrastucture demolished, families ripped apart, foreign troops running over them and busting into their homes at night, blackwater killing at will etc etc...I don't know...my guess is they would cut your throat if you asked that question in person.

The Dems did what they did on cooked intel...your memory is not THAT short is it? The Dems feared a backlash at the polls due to the way Karl Rove sold the war and that anyone not for it was a commie "terrist"...it was marketing 101 at it's finest...Karl Rove will burn in hell for sure, but he knows how to make the ignorant dance while HE plays the fiddle.

You can blame the media for not making it clear, few sites go into detail other than saying the people targeted are just "emo" and have long hair...Ofc its confusing to us in the West since emo's are not known to be a "gay" subculture here, instead they are just seen as weird people for the most part. Most articles dont mention that emo means a entirely different thing in Iraq [ofc both groups like long hair but the similaries stop there].

This story makes it alot clearer, though you have to dig down a few paragraphs before it explains why "emos" are attacked in Iraq.

'Emo' killings raise alarms in Iraq | General Headlines | Comcast (http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20120311/ML.Iraq.Emo.Killings/ - broken link)

""Like many places in the Muslim world, homosexuality is extremely taboo in Iraq. Anyone perceived to be gay is considered a fair target, and the perpetrators of the violence often go free. The militants likely behind the violence intimidate the local police and residents so there is even less incentive to investigate the crimes.

Emo is short for "emotional" and in the West generally identifies teens or young adults who listen to alternative music, dress in black, and have radical hairstyles. Emos are not necessarily gay, but they are sometimes stereotyped as such.

To Iraqis, "Emo" is widely synonymous with "gay." John Drake, an Iraq specialist for the British-based AKE security consulting firm, said Iraqi Emos are getting their hair cut so they aren't immediately identified, and therefore targeted, in the wake of the new threats.
In the southern Baghdad neighborhood of Dora, a mostly-Sunni area, 35-year-old Hassan is afraid to leave his home. He plans on cutting his shoulder-length hair soon, but fears that his hormone-injected breast enhancements will be detected if he is stopped and patted down at one of the ubiquitous security checkpoints across the city.

"Today I went out of my house with a friend but we were severely harassed — some people told us that we need the double blocks," said Hassan, referring to the cement blocks that attackers use to beat people. "I was scared so we returned home to hide.""
