I just took a look at the actual survey results of the latest USA Today/Gallup Poll. When they say they surveyed "Republicans and Independents who lean to the Republican party" or "Democrats and Independents who lean to the Democrat party" are they actually polling registered voters?
Then they say this "After I read all the names, please tell me which of those candidates you would be most likely to support for the Republican nomination for president in 2008, or if you would support someone else." "After I read all the names, please tell me which of those candidates you would be most likely to support for the Democrat nomination for president in 2008, or if you would support someone else."
Support? What does that mean? Why wouldn't they come right out and say vote for?
I ask because why wouldn't USA Today/Gallup come right out and say they polled registered voters if that's who they actually polled. So many people in this country don't vote so who cares what those people who don't vote think about who is running for President? And how do I know they aren't polling people who aren't even American citizens and who can't vote?
In other words, why should I even think the Gallup poll is a prediction of who will win the Democrat primary or Republican primary?
