Nuclear energy production in Japan is 11% of overall consumption.

Oil, LNG, and Coal are being used in place of nuclear... for obvious reasons.

This summer they project a 7% shortfall in usage/consumption.

Japan gets nearly 80% of its oil and natural gas from Persian Gulf states.

3% from Russia and the rest from wherever it can find it.

Wouldn't one think Japan would be screaming at the world to not go to war with Iran?

The lives that will be lost when energy supplies tank, will make the Earthquake and Tsunami insignificant in numbers.

Maybe this is why oil prices are jumping a bit.
